*Q1. What is Permanent MakeUp (PMU) and how does it work at lazyLAB?
Permanent makeup, or micropigmentation, uses advanced techniques to deposit pigment into the upper layer of your skin for long-lasting enhancement of brows, eyeliner, lips, or scalp. At lazyLAB, I specialize in bespoke, hyper-realistic results with my signature refined machine-based methods—like precise nano hair strokes and soft shading for that effortless, textured look you can’t get anywhere else. Every treatment is tailored to your features, skin type, and lifestyle for truly unique, effortless beauty. Ready to transform? Book a consultation with me!
*Q2. Does it hurt, and is it safe?
Most clients describe it as mild discomfort — like light scratching or tapping — especially when topical numbing cream is used. Overall, the treatments are very tolerable for almost everyone. Safety is always my top priority: I only use premium, hypoallergenic pigments, fully sterile tools, and follow strict hygiene protocols. A patch test is highly recommended (and available) if you have sensitive skin or any concerns. However, some medical conditions or medications may make it unsuitable, for example: • Active skin conditions/infections (e.g. eczema, psoriasis, severe acne, or rosacea in the treatment area) • Pregnancy or breastfeeding • Recent Accutane/Isotretinoin use (wait at least 12 months after finishing) • Keloid scarring tendency • Blood thinners or certain thyroid medications (can affect healing or pigment retention) • Other issues like uncontrolled diabetes or recent chemotherapy During consultation, I’ll go through your full medical history to make sure it’s safe and suitable for you. If there’s any doubt, we can discuss alternatives or get a doctor’s clearance.
*Q3. What are NanoBrows and why are they my signature specialty?
NanoBrows is my signature technique — an advanced, machine-based permanent makeup method using ultra-fine single-needle precision to create hyper-realistic, individual hair strokes that mimic your natural brows perfectly. Unlike traditional microblading, it’s much gentler on the skin with better retention, sharper definition, and superior results on oily/sensitive types. At lazyLAB, I offer NanoBrows, NanoCombo, and MistyOmbré for that textured, 3D-like, effortless look that’s natural yet defined. It’s designed for modern, low-maintenance beauty.
*Q4. How do NanoBrows differ from microblading?
NanoBrows use a digital machine with an ultra-fine needle to poke precise pigment into the skin – no cutting. Microblading uses a blade to cut slits and fill pigment. Key differences: • Trauma: Microblading cuts skin → more scabbing, redness, slower healing (7–14+ days). NanoBrows poke gently → minimal trauma, fast healing (5–10 days). • Results: Microblading strokes often blur or fade unevenly over time. NanoBrows give finer, sharper, more consistent hair strokes that stay crisp and realistic longer. • Longevity: Microblading usually 12–18 months with patchy fading. NanoBrows last up to 3 years with better, more even retention. To sum up, NanoBrows are gentler, more precise, and longer-lasting – the modern choice for natural-looking brows.
*Q5. Who is suitable for NanoBrows?
Almost anyone over 18 wanting fuller, defined brows without daily makeup — especially if you have sparse, over-plucked, uneven, or oily/sensitive skin. NanoBrows are particularly gentle and effective for various skin types due to the precise, low-trauma technique. During a thorough consultation, I’ll assess your medical history, skin type, face shape, and any concerns to determine if it’s safe and right for you — creating a bespoke design tailored just for your needs. If there’s any doubt, we’ll discuss alternatives or require doctor’s clearance for safety.
*Q6. How long do NanoBrows last and what’s the maintenance?
NanoBrows (and similar styles like NanoCombo and MistyOmbré) typically last 1–3 years with my precise machine technique. Retention varies by skin type: • Oily skin or faster metabolism (common in humid weather or active lifestyles) may fade a bit quicker due to excess oil pushing pigment out. • Neutral or dry skin usually holds longer and stays crisp. To get the best results, refresh every 12–18 months, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and steer clear of harsh products like exfoliants (e.g. AHAs, BHAs, scrubs), retinoids/retinol, strong acids, or anything that speeds up skin turnover. Follow aftercare strictly (keep dry initially, use gentle, non-comedogenic products). In consultation, I’ll check your skin type and give you realistic expectations and a personalised plan.
*Q7. What’s the healing process for NanoBrows?
Healing is gentle and straightforward – most clients say it’s easier than expected! • Days 1–3: Brows look darker (totally normal!) • Days 4–10: Light flaking happens – don’t pick or scratch, let it come off naturally. • Weeks 2–6: Color softens to a perfect natural shade. Full healing takes 4–6 weeks. Quick aftercare tips: • First 24 hours: Keep completely dry – no water, washing face, sweat, or products on the brows. • After that: You can gently wash your face normally (pat dry, no rubbing or towels). • Wait until all flaking is finished (usually by day 7-10) before restarting skincare, exercise, swimming, or anything sweaty/irritating. I’ll give you clear, easy aftercare instructions after your session – follow them and you’ll get the best results!
*Q8. What is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) and how does it work at lazyLAB?
SMP is a non-surgical treatment that places tiny pigment dots on the scalp to mimic natural hair follicles, creating the illusion of fuller hair or a clean buzz-cut look. With years of experience from working in large, high-volume clinics before outside lazyLAB, I’ve handled a wide range of cases — from subtle density boosts to full coverage for advanced thinning or alopecia. This background helps me deliver results that feel more dimensional and realistic than many standard SMP treatments you see around the UK. I use premium, high-quality pigments and precise techniques to perfectly match your hair color and skin tone — ideal for thinning hair, receding hairlines, alopecia, or scar camouflage. Results are immediate, natural-looking, and discreet.
*Q9. What are the main benefits of SMP?
You get an instant fuller, more confident look without any surgery, no downtime, and zero visible scars. It gently camouflages thinning or bald spots, adds natural density, or creates a neat shaved-head style – perfect for men and women alike. With my background from working in a high-volume clinic and specialised Asian training, I focus on techniques that create more dimensional, lifelike results compared to many standard SMP treatments commonly seen in the UK.
*Q10. Is SMP painful and what’s the healing like?
Most people find SMP quite bearable – it’s usually just a light tapping sensation, and some even describe it as feeling like a gentle head massage! The scalp has fewer nerves than other areas, so discomfort is very minimal. If needed, I can apply numbing cream for extra comfort, but a lot of clients say they don’t even need it. Healing is quick and straightforward: • Slight redness or sensitivity for 1–3 days (like after a light scalp treatment). • No major scabbing if you follow aftercare. • Full settling takes 4–6 weeks, with the dots gradually looking completely natural. I’ll give you simple, easy-to-follow aftercare tips right after your session – most clients say it’s way easier than they expected!
*Q11. How long does SMP last and maintenance?
With premium pigments and good care, SMP results usually stay looking great for 4–6+ years. Many clients go 2–4 years (or even longer) without needing a touch-up – it’s really low-maintenance! To keep everything fresh and crisp, a small refresh every few years is all it takes (depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and sun exposure). Daily SPF on the scalp (a simple hat or light sunscreen) helps a lot too. I offer a friendly complimentary review in the first year just to make sure you’re 100% happy with how it’s looking. No pressure – just here to help!
*Q12. How many sessions does SMP usually take?
Most people need 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart to build the perfect density and natural blending. The first session lays down the base, and the follow-ups fine-tune everything to match your look exactly. During consultation, I’ll look at your hair, skin, and goals, then plan the exact number and spacing that’s right for you – so you know what to expect from day one.
